car park is hard to spot as you drive along very tight to get into, we were told when we checked in there was a problem with catering and no meals would be served after 2pm.Building is old but comfortable, we enjoyed our stay, car park is very strange to try and park a larger car in and for some reason the heating was on! we had to have all the windows open

A friendly and historic coaching inn - Rating 5/5
I travel regularly with my work so im lucky enough to stay in a variety of hotels. The Griffin Inn is a historic building with friendly staff, great food and beer- what more do you want from a pub? . My room was clean and equipped with everything needed. I had an important online meeting on my arrival and was pleased with the signal and strength of the WIFI. Again so many hotels advertise 'free wifi in all areas'but simply dont deliver and seemingly cannot do anything about it when its mentioned! All in all you get what you pay for at the Griffin and i would definitely recommend. I look forward to my next stay.

The pub/hotel was pleasant and the room we had was clean & tidy. The guest beer was very good!. The breakfast was excellent. The staff were very accommodating. The parking was a problem for us as the entrance from the road was quite narrow. Ok for small cars. The pub car park was small, requiring some shunting to park. There was a public carpark about 200m away.

Pleasant stay - Rating 3/5
The car parking was very tight and the traffic around the hotel is very busy. The room was clean and comfortable if a little dated. The floorboards creak and you can hear the residents in the adjoining room talking. The doors don’t fit very well so they tend to slam when being closed. The quirks of staying in an older property. The bathroom is very small with little space to put your belongings or hang a towel. However the bed was extremely comfortable, the bed linen was changed each day and fresh towels provided, and the breakfast was absolutely top notch. We also ate dinner on one evening and it was fabulous. The guy who serves breakfast and dinner is an amazing host.In summary, it’s a nice little hotel but possibly a little over priced, especially if you want a good nights sleep.

Perfectly adequate - Rating 4/5
The Griffin is basically an old pub with rooms above. It has a small (but very good) restaurant, creaky floorboards (as expected) and all the charm of a historic hostelry - unlike the "faceless" chains of national motels. It lies on the town's one-way system but the bulk of traffic is diverted around the A11 by-pass. It's not the Ritz and the prices reflect this - that is fine with me. The hosts are friendly and attentive and the place is full of character - very close to town-centre amenities (fuel, take-aways, supermarkets). On-site parking is a bit tight, but I have always parked directly outside without any issues. Over the years I have stayed at many other alternatives in the area (just the once), but always try to stay at the Griffin when business takes me to Norfolk. I have a small list of "preferred" lodgings, depending on where I need to be across the country, and The Griffin is most definitely on that list for good reason.

Cute but tired - Rating 3/5
Booked this hotel as it was one of the cheaper options for a one night stay in Norfolk so we weren’t expecting luxury. The staff on arrival were super welcoming and friendly however we were told straight away that the kitchen is closed due to no chef. Which meant after long travel we had to go back out in the car to find somewhere. The place is quirky with its old pub smells and uneven floors however it is very tired. The room was clean enough to stay in but personally would have been nice if the ceiling didn’t look like it was coming in, there was soap from previous users left in the shower (which barely had any pressure) and various marks and stains on furniture. Bed was comfy enough and it did have a working telly and lights. I’m sure when I booked it the page stated rooms had aircon but that may have been misleading from booking.com rather than the hotel. Breakfast was served earlier than we had hoped and than was stated due to lack of chef. Food was fresh and good quality but basic. Again staff were very friendly at breakfast and especially on check out.Overall a decent stay but it really could be sooo much more.

You know when you've stayed somewhere and you're reluctant to leave a review because you want to keep it secret? That! We've been using Snetterton circuit for 30 years & never knew about the Griffin. It's an excellent old British inn. Don't expect the Radisson. Do expect a comfy bed, creaky floor boards, a really decent menu, a real kettle to make your tea in the morning, very friendly people, easy parking, shocking deployment of Artex, a great welcome and most of all an enjoyable stay. We'll be booking again. Really enjoyed it. A very, very well kept secret.

Really enjoyed my latest visit to the Griffin. Richard and his staff are so friendly and helpful. I am vegetarian and couldn't see any veggie options, asked Richard and he came up with 3 different options no problem. My room had a delightful view over the churchyard. It was extremely clean, comfortable bed, immaculate bedding and towels. Also biscuits on the tea tray what more can you want? Definitely recommend, just remember it is an old historical building.

Hotel very dated, limited menu choices and needs some updating desperately - Rating 2/5
The hotel was ok, very dated and obviously hasn't had any money spent on it in years. Our room was comfortable but not particularly clean. The shower was dreadful, no decent water pressure and part of the railing was not attached to the wall.We dined in the pub one night as we were restricted on where to eat as we took our pooch with us but I found the food old fashioned, badly presented and uninspiring. My partner is a veggie and in these days you usually get a decent choice, he had only 2 meals on the menu which were suitable. The staff were pleasant enough and I guess you pay for what you get, but I personally wouldn't stay there again.Would rather pay the extra and have a decent shower and a clean room. The dog enjoyed it though.

Historic hotel maintains it’s value and character. Very clean and welcoming. Great nights sleep and food was plentiful and tasty. Staying at old places like this at the cheaper end of the market is always a risk, but finding a Gem like this reinforces the reason I do it. I would not hesitate to stay again. Oldy World Tudor Hotel in a great location - Rating 5/5
I've stayed at The Griffin Hotel on a quite a few occasions whilst working in the Attleborough area. It's a quaint oldy world hotel with wooden beams and creaky floors. The rooms that I so far stayed in have had a lovely view out of the bedroom windows overlooking the church yard and high street. The accommodation is always clean and the staff very friendly. The food served are homely meals with lots of vegetables and very tasty which I like when working away from home. The Ale from the bar is locally brewed and of good quality. The next time I plan to return to The Griffin will be with my wife for a weekend break when we want to visit Norwich.

Friendly traditional town centre pub - Rating 5/5
had another pleasant stay at the Griffin, it's in the centre of Attleborough a small quaint market town and close to all amenities but is nice and quiet at night.Friendly staff, remembered me from my last visit, it's a traditional old style pub, convenient off road parking in the courtyard, handy for Snetterton, or just an amble around Norfolk, lots of nice little villages around, good stop off if you're on tour

An interesting couple of days... - Rating 2/5
To be perfectly honest, we couldn't expect a sixteenth century coaching inn to be a modern hotel - saying that, we did feel for its proprietor Richard who seemed to run the place almost single handed. The room we were in (room 5) was basic - but 'tired' would sum it up - the shower unit was less than useless asthe water pressure was non-existent as well as any hot water coming from it! On the plus side, the food - breakfast and dinner - was excellent. We would not recommend parking there as it is not user-friendly except for a very small car - there is free parking over the road. Overall, we expect that COVID had decimated the staff hence the one-man band so hope that when the current restrictions are more relaxed, the running of the Hotel will become easier for Richard? Attleborough as a Town is a delight, the Griffin Hotel is central so convenient and the church next door is well worth visiting.

The room was very clean and comfortable and my two dogs and I were made to feel very welcome. The downstairs bar/pub area was a bit shabby but the food was good. My only real complaint is that the whole building smelled vaguely of cigarette smoke, even the sheets of the bed

Dreadful stay. - Rating 5/5
I am sorry but despite your warm welcome my stay was awful. You know the room was smelly but you still rented it out… that was a disgrace. It should be properly cleaned and fumigated or something… I hardly slept, felt ill and couldn’t wait to escape on Sunday morning. The bed was clean and comfy although the shower towel was way too small, no soap and the water, despite leaving to run for 10 minutes, remained just above very cold.. not a pleasant shower. The bar area is dull and drab and in desperate need of some TLC!1Richard you face ask looked old and filthy. It was disgusting. I believe it was one of the one use disposable ones but it was obvious you had been wearing it for ages. It turned my stomach.I know times are hard for you but you need to ‘up your game’…One good thing - breakfast was great!Overall… a very unpleasant experience which I will not be repeating….

Centrally located cosy hotel - Rating 5/5
Obviously because of the current pandemic reviews of accommodation is limited, but the hosts were welcoming, informative and accommodating in terms of alternative food and drink options. The hotel was well ventilated, but the room was still warm and welcoming. A good size double with ample storage and an ensuite with supplied toiletries for the duration of the stay. Central location, but quiet with limited on site parking. Looking forward to returning later in the year when hopefully they are able to serve food.

Stayed here for our 30th Wedding anniversary for 4 nights - slight problem with the plumbing in our room on the first night - Richard & Sue managed to turn it around and moved us to another room on the second day.All the staff are lovely, particularly the housekeepers Frankie & Lisa who we now consider friends. Yes the Griffin is "tired", but that is due to to the age and nature of being a graded building - overcome your pregudices and give it a chance. A most pleasant stay & if we are in the area we will stay again.

I had a nice stay bit the only criticism I do have was the 'cot size' duvet covers on the single bed. Every time I turned over, the duvet would move over with me as it did not hang down each side of the bed.Other than that it was a nice room, pleasant staff and breakfast was good.

Only down side, the management might wish to keep a check on the youngsters who gather around the bar and use colourful language which may offend other guests.

Old but Gold - Rating 4/5
As you can see when entering this is a very old building. It is not modern in appearance but this is part of it's charm. What really matters is that it is a very homely place to spend an overnight stay or longer. The staff and management are extremely polite and helpful and make you feel at home. The bedrooms are comfortable and clean and the food is very good. The whole building could do with being renovated but in reality this would be impossible considering the age of the premises. This is to be expected and to ask for 5 star luxury would be unfair.I would recommend staying at The Griffin Hotel because it is well run, comfortable, serves good food and has a friendly relaxed outlook towards visitors, which is not easy to find nowdays.Give it a try!

Friendly and relaxed hotel - Rating 5/5
I booked into this hotel last minute due to a work trip. The hotel is set in a beautiful little village and the staff were all very friendly and accommodating. Its a very short walk from the train station (5-10 minutes). Unfortunately they weren't serving dinner that night but there was a very tasty Italian down the road which I got some take away from.I stayed in room 5 which I saw had some negative reviews about it being noisy but I had no issue with noise and I am a notoriously bad sleeper! The room looks out onto a church and is very picturesque. The bed was very big and comfortable! No complaints or even constructive criticism! Would definitely recommend to friends/family.

I would highly recommend The Griffin Hotel, for its food (the breakfast was incredibleand cured the hangover almost instantly!) the warm welcome from the friendly staff and last but by no means least, its decorative splendour. Beautiful inside and out with original exposed beams and traditional uneven, but thickly carpeted floors. Set in a convenient location in a small but thriving village with gorgeous views over the church grounds next door, I would happily stay here again in a heartbeat. Excellent value for money! I hope to be able to visit again soon :-)
